ABOUT THE GHOTKI CAMPUS
Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, visualizing the growing need of the people of upper Sindh for higher education, has recently established a Campus at Ghotki in order to provide higher education facilities in various modern and scientific fields. The Ghotki Campus is located adjacent Government Degree College Ghotki.
The Chairman & the Management of Higher Education Commission, Islamabad approved the establishment of campus of Shah Abdul Latif University at Ghotki which was inaugurated on December 19, 2016 by Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Parveen Shah and Sardar Ali Muhammad Khan Mahar, Member National Assembly and Former Chief Minister of Sindh.
GHOTKI AT A GLANCE
The Ghotki District is a bordering district between the northern Sindh and Punjab. Ghotki is an industrial area whereas the local companies based in Ghotki include OGDCL, Engro Fertilizers, Fauji Fertilizers (formerly Pak Saudi Fertilizer), TNB Liberty Power Plant, Engro Powergen Power Plant, and Dosan Power Plant. Ghotki also has three gas fields: the Mari Gas Field, Qadirpur Gas Field, and Rehmat Gas Field. Cotton is one of the district’s major crops, with many cotton-ginning factories in Ghotki. Another valuable crop is sugar cane hence many sugar mills are located in the Ghotki District.
